Chert by Chert: Ros’ Marked Rock No. 2

It is a deceptive piece of silica, considerably smaller, less ornate and refined, this rock appears to be the lesser sibling of Ros’ Rock. However, when you look a little deeper, it soon becomes obvious the roles are indeed reversed. This rock has so much more to say, if only we, or any Homo sapien sapien residing on this planet, could read between the lines.

Despite the inherent genetic limitations, there are some early comparisons and further observations that can be made that stretch the scope and sophistication of technologies, reinforce our belief there was some sort of symbiotic relationship between these rocks and the right hand and that there were two times, separated by thousands of years, when the engravings on each rock took place. And it is that separation in timing between first and second applications which causes the most contradictory end-product. The final result seems back the front, in that the older, worn lines are more delicate, absolutely straight and the longest on the smaller rock. The younger and second time around with blade on rock appears cruder, less fastidious in precision and a lot less indistinct. The difference in timing seems much greater than that of Ros’ Rock.

With five articles written there is no need to revisit past observations and measurements made on Ros’ Rock 1. In general terms there is a geometry and patterning on the bigger rock that is deliberate. A repetition of angle and measurement, parallel lines, intersection points, spaces in between and a multitude of shapes resonate to mathematical principles. The peckings are about one third the size of those on the smaller rock and the 28 identified are not clustered, but spread across the sides, and because of their size they are barely visible unless intentionally focusing on the specific site in full sun. Their contribution to this narrative is intentionally minor, no doubt it is there and has importance, but a minor chapter at best.

On the Second Rock …

On the second rock, the pecks are bigger and far more numerous, they are restricted to half of one side and, unlike the bigger rock, are the central point of the entire narrative. Even the striking letter A symbol serves a greater purpose in sliding around the edge of the rock underneath the pecked side at the bottom. There is an older engraving and runs in a perfect diagonal line with a finer cut which begins at the cap of the A and descends around the next the two sides before joining the younger Figure A staff at the bottom of the heavily pecked half-side. Such an intersection, the only one apparent on this rock, is of pivotal significance.

Outside that one convergence the second rock has nothing in common in setting or script with Ros’ Rock. The one solitary general point of intersection, as opposed to greater than 70, is a stark contrast. There are no shapes made by intersecting lines on any side, many lines are of an inferior mathematical quality in manufacture and precision. With the exception of the figure A, which contains an exact width in parallel lines, incredibly steady hand and expertise, and of course the finer, older lines, all that is left over is younger, a touch cruder and less committed in the pursuit of exactitude.

As much as the A grabs the eye, the entire narrative revolves around the mass of information encoded on Side 4, and on that face there isn’t one ‘gun-barrel’ straight line, point of intersection or shape to be seen. What we have here is all over the place, as it should be and was in distant times, there is no pattern on these four sides, outside both rocks sharing a clear attempt to relay an interconnection to all sides, they share very little in markings or arrangement.

What is really fascinating is how deceptively complex Side 4 actually is, and equally how cryptic and intelligent is the message encoded. Two large shapes, one an elongated ellipse with one fairly straight side and another, a cross between a tick and boomerang, are the biggest and thickest lines on either rock. All around are close to 200 pecks, the closest to a straight line out of all the younger entries, a few finer older lines, one larger and two smaller semi-circle imprints, five horizontal lines of dashes and dots, some smaller younger lines and an odd engraving that still retains a piece of the original surface yet is surrounded by the now exposed under-surface.

The technological scorecard as tallied after examining what lay on and beneath the surface of Ros’ Rock, can certainly be more than doubled. The bigger rock shows evidence of three different widths of cut/incision, while on the smaller rock there are five different blade width on display. The semi-circle imprints are not on the bigger rock and come in two sizes, a diameter of 100 millimetres or 20 millimetres. Even though the mere mention of a technique which we suspect is extremely radical and will upset our critics, it looks like the shape was actually punched into the rock which then left an imprint, as opposed to being chiseled or gouged out. The peckings are different and of larger diameters to the smaller pecks on the bigger rock. What only adds to the intrigue and size of the tool kit needed on the smaller rock, we can identify four different sizing of pecks. The deepest and thickest pecks are most assuredly on the smaller rock.

As stated in earlier articles, both rocks were most definitely artificially shaped in a way that can be held in the right hand and in both cases, in a very specific manner. Of course, the second smaller rock has been demonstrably formed to be held with the index finger and this has happened many, many times over an extremely long period of time. The time taken that can account for a depression of this depth that is obviously meant to take the form of the index finger, has to comfortably run into five figures, and perhaps even more.

The question that now needs to be addressed relates to where in Australia the smaller rock was last held by the index finger, if for no other reason that it is the only part of our research on this rock that was already well in advance before it went up for auction.

Without going into specifics or geography, we can reveal that the smaller rock was found at a location that is within 100 kilometres of the Standing Stones site. From the time Ros rang two hours before the auction closed, the description was vague in every respect bar one, she made mention the letter A. My immediate response was to refer to the Standing Stones site, the place where the first language ever spoken was memoralised, and a language made of an amazingly diverse combination of characters. When making that comment I had no idea where the artefact was found, but did know that of the 21 letters nominated by Frederic Slater as being part of an Original language that comprised of rock arrangements, angles, hand signs, body parts and animal motifs, he listed A as the first letter of the Original alphabet and of immense importance. According to Slater it is a “language built almost entirely on vowels,” of which the “letters not used are F, Q, S, X, Z.” Because the Original language was the inspiration behind all other tongues, Slater openly conceded that “the language we speak is not Anglo-Saxon but just aboriginal (sic).” (Frederic Slater- Personal Notes)

The question that arises out of Slaters’ research relates to whether this engraving is the first letter of the Original language and of massive historical significance, here in hand and finger we have the very first letter of the very first alphabet. There is no absolute here, but it is Original, was found in the vicinity, does correspond with the research of the man elected as President of the Australian Archaeological Society who nominated a symbol that looks enough like A to be named A, just as we did. We would suggest that as things stand the chances are high this rock was part of that ancient assemblage, which was first desecrated during the 1840’s. Even during that disturbance it was noted by those involved in this overwhelming affront to culture, that rocks were taken off the Standing Stones site by the three Original people who were acting as Custodians. As to whether this rock was one of those hidden, taken from the mound at a later date or used nearby for another purpose cannot be narrowed down, but the connection to that site and the general area seems highly likely.

Chert Plus Chert Equals …

Both rocks are chert, and although not of the same dimensions they share a common general shape. On either rock, four sides were used and both seem to indicate a sequence in each narrative. At first glance it may seem that these hundreds of individual engravings constitute the entire message, but perhaps there is more under the surface. These silica rocks are not that different from the silicon chip in chemistry and capacity. What if there is also information stored within awaiting the right vibration in song to unlock ancient secrets?

If our suspicions are confirmed then that mystical doorway and the key needed to unlock these secrets held within, is the most important legacy the rocks have bequeathed to modern humanity. It is right in front of us, close enough to touch and ready to be activated and sung to, if only we knew what words to sing and notes to scale. All we can hope for is that this ancient sacred song is not lost, the rocks are ready and willing to be sung, all we seeking is the one who is able.

My God, what happened then? Our apologies for momentarily straying into the esoteric when our brief is to stay on track and convince through the empirical, back to the facts, figures and rock solid archaeology. The rocks are the same shape and make, and serve the same greater purpose. Even though they are separated by more than 700 kilometres, the fact they look similar and are made from the same silicon constituents is indicative of united purpose that may well span the whole continent of Sahul.

In both cases and rocks, purely at face-value, there are some geological facts that need to be firmly established before any doubt or verdict is cast. The simple geological truth is that no natural processes could striate in this manner. In the simplest terms, glacial striation, which is the only feasible natural process that could leave marks displaying some crude similarities, can leave a criss-cross patterning. This could happen on one side of a rock, it doesn’t keep flowing from side to side all the way round. What is on display here looks like it was placed inside a rotating machine. What is also evident at first glance is the polishing followed by grooving, and in what leaves no room for nature’s involvement, a different grain and colour of rock was cemented into some grooves. The infilling is so artificial and evidently equally successful, as it still remains. In what only adds to intrigue and sophistication, the infilling in each grove/depression is different, and every geological rule known or suspected is steadfast in proclaiming nature doesn’t do a variety of artificial infills with an adhesive that last thousands of years. Humans, other earlier hominids and beings, those from earlier civilisations, the host of extra-terrestrial visitors, interlopers and residents and any sentient beings we have inadvertently omitted, yes they all do infills, but not nature, never.

The processes required, technology applied and intelligence of the persons involved breaks every conventional pre-historical mould, to deny otherwise demands contrary evidence and there is none on these rocks, except the stock-standard ploy used when all other defenses crumble under the weight of pure science and real geology: it is all a hoax.

There is nothing else left, someone has to stand in front of Ros, face to face, and call her a liar. As with so many pieces of archaeology we are involved, there is nothing in cupboard to contend with outside it all being down to mischief and bad people lying. We have heard that same tired old negative mantra when confronted with the crystal skull, the Egyptian jewelry and ancient bone, the treaty tablet and so many other artefacts and sites we have shared. The problem is that this time that urge to perpetrate a hoax has to apply to second party. Ros discovered the first rock when a backhoe was on site excavating, but she brought the second rock from another group, so these other people must also be of poor character and deceitful nature.

Enough of this pathetic character assassination, accept the truth and fess up, just for once stop dismissing and denigrating while seated in a padded chair. Stand up, hold your head high and walk out of the building and into country with us and the truth will be revealed, or remain seated and committed to an eternal human curse: there are none so blind as those who refuse to see.
